URGENT MESSAGE FROM MOTHER
Dear Friends,

I believe that waves of feminism take shape much as waves themselves form in the ocean. They arise from deep below the surface, away and out of sight, just as thoughts, intuitions, images, and feelings arise in the psyches of women and gain momentum when they are shared and validated. Collective perceptions and values evolve as a consequence through which cultures are transformed.
Women want a world that is safe for children, one in which they do not live in fear themselves. Only when women and children are safe from violence and deprivation will the cycles of violence begetting violence, which underlie terrorism and wars, end. This will happen when compassion, spirituality, and feminism bring mother-values into the world.

Disempowered and fearful mothers cannot protect their children--no matter how much they may love them. Powerless mothers instill mistrust and devaluation of women in boys and girls.
Behind my advocacy for a UN 5th World Conference and Forum on Women (5WCW) is the conviction that If there is to be Peace on Earth, it will be because “Mother” (as archetype, as the Sacred Feminine, as empowered women in equal partnerships become mothers), returned Home through her feminist daughters and sons who were not afraid of standing up to patriarchy. The dormant power of women together is the untapped resource needed by humanity and the planet for peace.

Untapped source of peace,
Women in circles,
Women connecting,
Women together
Bringing the sacred feminine,
Maternal instinct,
Sister archetype,
Mother power
Into the world.

Women and girls have qualities......

Women and girls have qualities that men have not developed and are needed now. Here is a condensed list of the experience, books, and research that support this premise: The Girl Effect, Grameen Bank Microloan experience, Gender differences in response to stress: Tend and Befriend  vs. Flight or Fight (Talyor, Shelly E. and others, UCLA), Women’s talk vs. men’s: empathy vs. establishing who is alpha (Tannen, Deborah.,You Don’t Understand Me), For women, ethics involves relationship and principle, not just principle (Gilligan, Carol., In Another Voice), Largest global study on violence against women found feminist movements hold the key to change.(Htun, Mala & S.Laurel Weldon, American Political Science Review)

Jean at the UN —Honk for 5WCW

I will be at the UN during the first week of the CSW meetings. Every Spring about this time, the UN Commission on the Status of Women meets. (This year it is March 9 -20, 2015). The theme is “Implementing Beijing +20.”  I will have with me the printed copy of the petition “Support a UN 5th Conference on Women” (signed by 18.061 people: Thank You if you are one of them!). The print out is bulky, 1181 pages, of which 721 are lines of names, 50+ per page, and the rest are comments of support. I hope for right timing to present it to the Executive Director of UN Women, when it will be a step toward gaining their support for 5WCW in 2020. I believe that UN Women could become as known and influential as UNICEF through this conference, the Forum  part could draw 100,000 women and girls and energize global feminism.
I also will have large colorful cards for handouts: the Earth & 5WCW button logo and the two NGO parallel events sponsored by Pathways To Peace, Women’s World Summit Foundation, Millionth Circle Initiative, Earth Child Institute, and Women’s Perspective, these supporting organizations that have my back and support heart-activism. If you want to see it, click here. I’m a Permanent Representative of Pathways To Peace to the UN.
Consultation Day is the major opening NGO event (March 8) at the Apollo Theatre. Gertrude Mongella, Secretary-General of 4WCW is the keynote speaker. She and I spoke as panelists on the “Need for a UN 5th World Conference on Women (5WCW) in 2012.  Ruchira Gupta (founder of anti-trafficking organization in India) will receive the Woman of Distinction Award. She is a strong supporter of 5WCW, and is on our panel  “Women & Girls Empower One Another; Lessons from the Beijing Forum and the Women’s Movement.”(March 12). The third of the three women to be honored is Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director of UN Women, former Deputy President of South Africa.
    Honk! Honk! Honk!
As I go to the CSW as the principal advocate of 5WCW, the conveners of The Millionth Circle Initiative and many other circles and individuals are sending support and invisible energy; I’m sure  that  blessings, prayers, shared hopes are like wind under my wings.
Circle formation has much common with the leadership and V formation of wild geese, who go further and faster together than any could alone. They honk support to the lead goose to keep up her speed, and when she tires another will rotate into lead position. May there be many V-formations and circles with a spiritual center, doing whatever it is that they are moved to do, creating the small miracles of synchronicity.

FEATHERED PIPE RANCH — MONTANA
Water, Moon, Yin: A Women’s Retreat
June 20 -27, 2015
For the first time, a river will run through the workshop–we will journey down the Missouri River in the middle of the week. The moon will be moving out of new moon into first quarter when we begin, which is an aspect of Artemis the Goddess of the Hunt and Moon, archetype of the sister, goal achiever, and activist, whose realm is the wilderness. There will be time to listen to stories and myths, to be playful, to be in circle, to have opportunities for friendship and solitude. In the midst of the beauty of the outer world of big sky, trees, hills and lake at Feathered Pipe, the inner world is evoked, the inner child remembered.

August 16 - 21, 2015  "Your One Wild and Precious Life: A Deepening Gathering for Women" The premise of my Jungian, feminist, and spiritual perspective begins with the certainty that it matters what we do with our “one wild and precious life,” a quote from the poet, Mary Oliver. To find and live our personal myth, is to be true to who we are. In this week, there will be time to hear stories and myths that are about us, time for self-reflection and perhaps to discover sources of meaning in our lives. Esalen is a most beautiful place.

Artemis: The Indomitable Spirit in Everywoman

In Greek mythology, Artemis was the goddess of the hunt and of the moon whose realm was the wilderness, the twin of Apollo. She is the archetype in women who are activists, feminists, environmentalists, social justice advocates, animal and forest protectors, those who have a sense of sisterhood with women and equality with men. A capacity for inner reflection, a sense of oneness in nature, mystical bonds are qualities. In this storytelling book, many real life examples and myths provide a depth psychology view, including related archetypes that often develop in the second half and last third of life. Artemis is also an inner image of the feminine or anima in a man’s psyche.

She Lives—An Interview with Jean Shinoda Bolen by Leslee Goodman

An in-depth and long interview on the Sacred or Divine Feminine, on Goddesses and archetypes, patriarchal religions, monotheism and the suppression of the sacred feminine, the consequences psychologically on individuals and culture (first half) how I got interested in the divine feminine, how this is related to my feminism and advocacy for 5WCW, direct experiences of the divine feminine, how it differs from divine masculine, numinous moments, reconciling Jesus and Christianity with sacred feminine, how the essential life after death message of the mother-dauighter Eleusinian Mysteries and Christianity are the same. Words from W.H. Murray and Goethe that influenced me to print-out the 1181 pages of the 5WCW petition.
Maybe they are words for you, too.
Until one is committed, there is hesitancy,
the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness,
concerning all acts of initiative and creation.,
The moment one definitely commits oneself,
then Providence moves, too.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision.
Boldness has genius, power and magic it it.
With love, hope, perseverance, and optimism.
